Ruby Valley Pool FAQS How long will the pool open for in 2010? The Pool Advisory Committee hopes to keep the pool open for 93 days during the 2010 swim season (the pool was open for 81 days in 2009). The tentative plans are to open June 12, 2010 and the last day of operation could be September 12, 2010. The 93 days this season is only achievable by having guards available to work during September. Why does the pool open so late in June? The pool could be open for just over 90 days this year but the opening cannot occur until the lifeguard staff hired and certified. The lifeguard certification occurs when the college and High School hires are available for training which typically occurs in June. May and June are also commonly the rainy months. The concept is to extend the season into September because the weather is historically hotter in August & September as compared to June. This year's Grand Opening is tentatively planned for June 12th at 5 pm with a hot dog barbeque for the first 100 people and open swim. What is new for the 2010 swim season? Beside a longer swim season, the PAC and manager Colton Hellwinkel plan on organizing more special feature events for this summer. More information is to come on these special events. We also hope to add a Mom/Dads & tots swim session this season.
